Obituary of Catharina Toonen

In Loving Memory

The family of Cathy (Toos) Toonen (nee Van Berlo) sadly announce her death on July 31, 2024 at the age of 92. While she leaves behind loved ones, there is comfort in knowing she is finally reunited with her loving husband, Peter Toonen (2007).  Dearest sister of Martien Van Berlo (Mieke), Tonnie Berkmortel (late Martien), and Harrie Van Berlo (late Martha), his companion, Lies, all from The Netherlands.   Sister in law of Gerrit, Toni, and Nellie. Predeceased by her sister, Tina Van Breugel (late Toon), brother, Tony Van Berlo (late Rita), brother and sister in law Bill and Gerarda Toonen. Cathy will be missed by many nieces and nephews in both Canada and the Netherlands. Though Cathy and Pete worked hard on their tobacco farm for many years, they also enjoyed travelling and having good times with close friends. Cathy was a Member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Women's League and the Delhi Senior Citizen's Friendship Centre. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Augustine Ogundele officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada or the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
