Mrs. Marguerite Saunders of St. Williams, passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in her 97th year. Former Marguerite Alice DePoorter. Daughter of the Late Hillard and Celina (Handsaeme) DePoorter. Beloved wife of over 63 years to the Late Wilfred Saunders (2015). Loving mother of Pat Dumoulin (Late Jim 2001), Linda Ralf (Rob) and Bruce Saunders (Diane). Cherished grandmother of Becky, Mark (Leah), Joseph (Sonia), Angela, Brian (Femke), Tim, Jeremy, Jeff (Kathryn), Jason (Andrea), Justin (Nicole), Victoria, John (Janelle), Edward (Ashly) and great-grandmother of 22 great-grandchildren. Dearest sister of the Late Madeline Clapdorp (2022) (Armand 2021), Late Georgette Coppens (2023) (Late Robert 2020), Late George DePoorter (2001) (Pauline), Lawrence DePoorter (Late Cecile 2017), Late Raymond DePoorter (2011) (Late Donna 2016), Late Robert VanBelle (2022) (Monica), Late Gerald VanBelle (2011) and the Late Marcel Van Belle (Stepfather 1979). Also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Lynn Stevers and by many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by her son, Philip Saunders (1993) and by her grandson, Scott Ralf (1988). Marguerite was a former member of the St. John Ambulance and a volunteer for St. William & Senior Support Services and the Delhi Figure Skating Club. She also enjoyed knitting & sewing, bowling and watching curling. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Andy Alway officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to Campfire Circle (Camp Trillium), the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Charity of your choice will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
