Obituary of Amandus Bobkowski

Mr. Amandus “Ben” Bobkowski of Vanessa, passed away peacefully at the Norview Lodge, Simcoe on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in his 98th year. He is reunited with his beloved wife, the Late Helen (Zubricki) Bobkowski (2019). Dearly missed father of daughter, Christine, and son, Andy. Loving brother of Joanna Cirocki (Poland). Also survived by many dear nieces & nephews in Ontario and Poland, and extended family in Canada, USA and Europe. Predeceased by his sisters in Poland, Wladka Bigus (2008), Wanda Bigus (2016) (Franciszek) and sister-in-law Isabel Peter (2005) in Canada. He was born in Mirachowo, Poland on August 7, 1926. A Polish WWII veteran, Ben served in the Polish Armed Forces. He arrived in Canada in 1949, where he met and married the love of his life, Helen. Ben lived on his Vanessa farm and he grew tobacco for many years. He retired and, until recently, remained on the land that he loved. Ben was always interested in the farm activities and in years passed, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. A Private Family Funeral Mass will be held with Interment in St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Courtland.
