Obituary of Rosie Verbuyst
In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that we the family wish to announce the passing of our much loved mother, grandmother and great Grandmother, Mrs. Rosie Verbuyst at the Norfolk General Hospital on Friday November 17, 2023, in her 86th year. Rosie married Willy Verbuyst in 1957 and they grew tobacco together for many years. When her health didn’t allow her to continue working on the farm, she was a proud employee at Woolco/Walmart for 25 years. As she prepared for retirement, her and Willy purchased a home in Glenshee that she was very proud to call her own. After retirement, she always said how much she loved and missed her work. Using her large calendar, Rosie always kept up to date with birthdays and anniversaries; she never missed one. Rosie loved her family with all her heart. Every visit was welcomed with gratitude, every phone call ended with “Love you” and every card was signed, “God bless you”. Rosie’s pride and joy was her family and her house in Glenshee, she was so happy living there and would always say “God blessed her with the best neighbours anyone could ask for”. She will also be dearly missed by her much loved cats Casper and Yogi. Born Rosemary “Rosie” Francis DeBock to Josephine (née Varewyck) and John DeBock. Beloved wife of the Late Willy Verbuyst (1999). Loving mother of Rick Verbuyst (Faye), Laurie Verboom (John) and Chris DeCarolis (Rick). Cherished grandmother of ten grandchildren: Ryan (Tabitha), Amy, Shane (April), Leanne (Luke), Danielle (Kevin), Nicky (Matthew), Kelsey (Steven), Justin, Brandi and Candace and 15 great grandchildren. Dearest sister of Stan DeBock (Ria) and sister-in-law of Johnnie Verbuyst (Betty), Anita Verbuyst and Dorothy Verbuyst. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her sister Justine Pierssens (2020) & her brother-in-law (Late Alphonse 2013) and by her sister-in-law Lydia Verbuyst (1939) and by her brothers-in-law, Lucien (2016) and Ronnie (2009) Verbuyst. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held with Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Langton.
