Obituary of Julia Puype
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Julia Puype of Delhi, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at Delhi Long Term Care Centre, Delhi on Sunday, August 20, 2023 in her 95th year. Julia was born in Oostkamp, Belgium in 1929 and grew up in Moerbrugge. During the war, at the age of 14, she quit school and started working to help support her family. In Belgium, she met her future husband, Andre, married him in 1957 and together they immigrated to Canada by boat. The “Ascania” docked in Quebec City and from there they travelled to their new home in Delhi where Andre’s brother had already settled. Together they built homes in the then budding “Adams” subdivision. She worked at various jobs and was featured in a picture at the Delhi Tobacco Museum. Julia had many hobbies and pastimes including painting, drawing, collecting dolls and word searches but most will remember her love of taking pictures. She captured many memories of family trips to Belgium, vacations to Vegas and Portugal, car trips to Frankenmuth, as well as Florida with friends. But most important to her were the countless photographs of her two grandchildren, who she absolutely adored. They spent many days before and after school with her and she will hold a special place in their hearts. The last five years of her life, Julia was at the Delhi Long Term Care and judging by the number of staff who visited in her final days, she had formed many loving friendships. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Former Julia Zulma Franssens. Beloved wife of 63 years to the Late Andre Puype (2020). Fondly remembered by her only son, Marc, and his wife Christine. Cherished Oma of Lindsey and Mason. Dearest younger sister of Yolande Huyghe (Late Edmond, 2009) in Belgium and sister in law of Sylvia Puype (Late Roger, 2002) in Tillsonburg. Also survived by extended families in both conuntries. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held with Deacon Andy Alway officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery.
