Obituary of Florence Wilkins
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Florence Wilkins of Delhi, passed away at the Norview Lodge, Simcoe on Monday, August 7, 2023 in her 94th year. Florence was a devoted pastor’s wife and mother. We moved around a lot and she always managed to make each place feel like a loving home. She kept us all in line (most of the time) and held the family together like super glue. She managed the house, directed the kids, tended the garden, cooked awesome meals, cared for the pets… all while working and being an integral part of the church. She was musically inclined, singing a mean alto, playing the piano, organ and dabbling in the accordion. She loved playing games and especially loved sitting at a puzzle. Her green thumb came through with gardens outside and violets and ferns inside. She loved watching the birds in the backyard and always challenged Dad with squirrel proofing the feeders. She was a teacher in her own right, not just because she was a parent, but she also taught Sunday School, Girl Guides, Brownies, and Vacation Bible School. The family has ballooned with many grandkids and great grandkids. Florence always took time to be present with the family and enjoyed having them visit. We will all miss her council and influence in our lives, but we relish in the thought of her in Glory with her Heavenly Father, singing with choirs of angels. Former Florence Walker. Beloved wife of the Late Reverend Horace Wilkins (2012). Loving mother of David, Evelyn Bristow (Bill), Geoff Wilkins, Colleen Burks (John), Ben Wilkins and Becky Wilkins. Cherished grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Much loved sister of Dorothy Moffatt (Late John), June Otway (Late Ken) and Robert Walker. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by her siblings Margaret Walker, Clarice Leach, Jean Gelatly and James Walker and by her son-in-law Ron Robinson. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Courtland Baptist Cemetery. Donations to the Bethesda Baptist Church will be gratefully appreciated by the family. Alternatively, you may wish to make a donation in Florence`s name to the Alzheimer Society of Haldimand-Norfolk.
