Obituary of Jim Phillips
In Loving Memory
Mr. James Phillips of Delhi, passed away peacefully at his home, on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Emma Phillips (nee: Deseure). Loving father of Colleen De Vos (Richard). Cherished grandfather of Kellen (Mandy), and Ashlen (Richard) Gibbons, and two great grandchildren, Seth and Maci. Lovingly remembered by stepchildren Dan De Vos (Gloria), Darlene Peel (Frank), Michael De Vos (Rhonda), Cathy Krebs (Bryan) and their families. Dearest brother of George Phillips (Joyce) of Pembroke. Predeceased by his four brothers: William, Robert, Patrick, Blaine Phillips, two sisters: Jean and Sandra, and by stepson David De Vos (Barb). Jim served with Royal Canadian Artillery in the 25th Medium Regt (R.C.A.) and the 56 Field Regt (R.C.A). He served on the Delhi Police Department and was the Norfolk County Jail Governor for many years as well as the Regional Director of the Addiction Research Foundation. He was Past President of the Norfolk Shrine Club, the Delhi Lions Club, the Delhi Army & Navy Club Unit 356, and was the Drug Awareness Zone Chairman of District A and acted as the Norfolk Representative on the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital Board for a six year term. Jim was a Life Member of Murton Lodge of Perfection, 32nd Degree and a Life Member of the Knights of Rose Croix 18th Degree. Jim was a 3rd Degree Member of the Delhi-LaSalette Knights of Columbus #5095 and Faithful Volunteer at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi and choir member for over 20 years. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Memorial Fund or the Hospice of Elgin will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
