Obituary of Rev. Theodore Derer

Rev. Theodore Derer of Tillsonburg, Ontario passed away from this life peacefully at Victoria Hospital - L.H.S.C., London, on Sunday, January 1, 2023 with family by his side, to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on March 5, 1941, Rev. Derer was the Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Courtland for over 30 years. Trinity Lutheran is affiliated with the Lutheran Churches of the Reformation, headquartered in Decatur, Indiana, USA. He served for several years as a volunteer chaplain for the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, as well as being on the Executive with Tillsonburg Right to Life.  Beloved father of Rob Derer (Donna) and Alison Waechter (Mike). Loving grandfather of Gillian Derer and Quinn Derer. Much loved brother of Robert Derer Sr. (Heather). Much loved Pastor to his beloved flock at Trinity Lutheran Church. Also survived by nieces & nephews, Patricia Danchak, Gord Stephan, John Stephan Jr., David Stephan & Robert Derer Jr. Predeceased by his father, John Derer (1966), by his brother, John Stephan Sr. (1993) and by his mother, Teresa Derer (2008). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation Friday, January 6, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service with Pastor Jeffrey A. Young (Salvation Ev. Lutheran Church, Missouri USA) officiating. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Courtland or the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
