Obituary of Emily Kupi
In Loving Memory
The family of Emily (Sukupcak) Kupi, is saddened to announce that Emily passed away on August 18, 2022 at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, Ontario. Born August 28th, 1936, in Castkov, Czechoslovakia to George Sukupcak (1977) and Anna (Cernek) Sukupcak (2012), she passed away, in her 86th year, with her husband of 66 years at her side, and surrounded by the love of her family. Emily was a beacon of light in life, known for her fashionable wearing of a tube top with babushka while cutting her lawn. Emily was an expert baker and gardener, spending hours and hours creating the most beautiful flowers, and baking the most delicious desserts. Emily immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her family from Slovakia, making Norfolk County her home. She met and married the love of her life in 1956, built a home, started a family, and along with her husband and her son, managed a small excavating and dump truck business. She was active throughout her community. She was a pillar of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Simcoe, where she was a devoted worshipper and volunteer, and she was a long-time member of the Delhi German Home Ladies Society. In passing, we remember and celebrate the life of Emily. She is survived by her husband and love of 66 years, Abel and by her sister, Linda (Stewart) Burberry. Loving mother to her children, Christine (Rick), Katherine (Late Dave, 2022), Victor, and Mark (Pauline) and to her daughter-in-law, Kathy. Cherished grandmother (who spoiled them) to Jonathon (Kawtar), Tara (Scott), Jessica (Tyler), Michael, Christopher, Colin (Yu) and Ashley and her three great-grandchildren, Suzanne, Conor, and Avery. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and inlaws. She is preceded in death by her sister Annie (2022). Emily was a fighter, having waged a long and courageous battle against lung cancer for seven years. She never gave up and never lost her strength, her passion, and her sense of humour. Emily will be missed by all that knew her. She was a source of strength and kindness for many, and in her passing, we celebrate her life, and the joy and memories she gave to us all. She has found a long deserved rest, and while we mourn our loss, let us rejoice in the peace she has found in the embrace of her Lord and Saviour.
