Obituary of Joan Tortyna
In Loving Memory
On Thursday March 17th, 2022, in her 90th year our beloved mother Joan Tortyna of Delhi passed away peacefully at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre. She decided it was time to spend eternity with our heavenly father, her family and catch up with old friends.
Joan was born in 1932 outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba where she would eventually meet her husband, Edward. In 1958, they moved to Turkey Point where they owned the Green Booth for 28 years. Joan often volunteered to help with Community fundraisers and events and was also a member of the St Michael’s Catholic Women League and the Delhi Long Term Care’s residence council.
Joan was a gifted storyteller and was known to tell a joke or two. She softened the hearts and planted a smile on those that got to know her. In her younger days she loved baking, country music, and gardening.
Predeceased by her husband Edward (2020) and son Blaine (1996). Loving mother to Brian (Diane), Jason (Ashley), Marilyn (Joe), and Brenda (Randy). Cherished grandmother of Derek, Jennifer, Millie, Ruby, and great-grandmother of Rowan. Joan is survived by her brother Roy as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Don (2022) and by her sister Irene.
A special and sincere thank you to the nurses, psw’s and staff at the Delhi Long Term Care for there excellent care and compassion while mom was there.
