In Loving Memory
It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of John E. Scott on Thursday January 14, 2021, at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton. After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, John passed with his wife by his side and in the presence of his loving children, one day before his 67th birthday. Survived by his much loved and devoted wife of almost 47 years, Linda (Van Londersele). Devoted and loving father of his adoring children and grandchildren Jennifer Scott-Penich (Anthony), their children Hayden and Blake, Melanie Scott-Cooper, her son D’Artangan, and Dr. Carol Scott. Dearest son of Jack A. Scott and the late Marguerite (Sharpe) Scott (2014). Loving brother of Roxey Roloson (George) and Clifford Scott. Also survived by his sister-in-law MaryAnn Van Londersele, his brother-in-law Larry Van Londersele (Linda), as well as by many loving nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his special “family” Les & Judy Vanka, Al & Yo Hilder and family, his special friend Les More, and many other much loved friends. Predeceased by his infant sister Patty, his sisters Jacqueline Petker (2019) and Alberta Wilson (2020), his brother-in-law Dan Van Londersele (2008), and his mother and father-in-law, Cecilia (2009) and Paul Van Londersele (2020). Born and raised in the Simcoe area, John was a true farmer through and through. He loved working the family farm, side by side with his wife and children. He often commented what a wonderful life it was to work with, and enjoy every meal with, his family. He was a Catholic representative on the Norfolk Board of Education and served as chairman of the board for 2 years. He was also a Third Degree Knight with the Delhi, La Salette Knights of Columbus, a Member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Sunday Choir, and a Member of the former Delhi Belgian Club. John enjoyed summer camping trips with his family and winter vacations in the Caribbean with his wife. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and golfing with his family, and was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan – “Go Bills!” Special thanks to his family doctor, Dr. Natalie McConnell, the team at Juravinski Cancer Centre, especially Dr. Kazemi, and his home care nurse, Doreen Peters. In consideration of the continuing health and safety of our friends and family, a Private Family Funeral Service will take place.
