Obituary of Gerrit Hogeveen

In Loving Memory

 

Gerrit "Gary"  Hogeveen of Delhi, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in his  86th year. Gary immigrated from Holland to Halifax in 1952 and spent several years in Manitoba farming and working on the railroad. He settled in Ontario where he continued the farming lifestyle, enjoying the land and many varieties of animals, known for his open welcome to all, surrounding himself in love and laughter by his family, friends and neighbours. Beloved husband of Carolyn (Logan) Hogeveen for over 34 years. Loving father of Diana, Anita (Steve), Nancy, Linda, Janice (Dwayne), Sondra (Scott), Cindy, George (Lianne) and Jennifer (Wally) and father in law of Donna Hogeveen. Cherished grandfather of Alisia, Tammy, Lisa, Randy, Liz, Gabby, Jacob, William, Hannah, Libbi, Sam, Kyle, Rebecca and Halina and great grandfather of four. Also survived by sister Bets, and family in Holland including several more siblings, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son, Jan Hogeveen (1993).  A Celebration of  Life Service will be held at Lynnville United Church, Lynnville on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Debra Hinksman and Rev. Murray Barnet officiating. Memorial Donations to the Lynnville United Church can be made through the Murphy Funeral Home, Delhi (519) 582-1290.
